What is Osmosis?

Osmosis is a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange (DEX) and cross-chain automated market maker (AMM) built for the Cosmos ecosystem. The protocol was created using the Cosmos SDK and allows developers to build and deploy custom Automated Market Makers (AMMs). As a decentralized P2P blockchain, the platform is used for token trading and liquidity creation. The project had an ICO in October 2021. a token sale led by Paradigm Ventures helped the company raise $21 million. Osmosis takes the two core principles of the Cosmos ecosystem (heterogeneity and sovereignty) and extends them to the core functionality of the AMM protocol. As such, the protocol uses a self-governing liquidity pool that allows users to vote on liquidity pool parameters and protocols, and provides liquidity with pledges.

Who are the founders of Osmosis?

The DEX was launched by Osmosis Labs, founded by Josh Lee and Sunny Aggarwal. He graduated from Anderson University and is one of the founders of Block in Press, a Korean blockchain media outlet. Between 2018 and 2019, he worked as a project manager at Lunamint and curated the first Telegram messenger (real-time messaging software) native cryptocurrency wallet. In addition, he worked as a development analyst at Tendermint. As for Aggarwal, he worked as a research scientist at Tendermint and was the core developer of Cosmos SDK and Gaia blockchain. He is also a co-founder of Sikka, a company working on the DeFi protocol and network.
